Has your little ball of fluff developed a herculean ability to bark for hours on end? Is there any meaning behind these ear-shattering barks? When does barking become exaggerated and when is it normal canine behavior? In this class, we’re going to learn why dogs bark and how to train your dog to be quiet and calm!

You will discover that there is in fact meaning behind barking and you’ll even get to do a fun audio test to see how familiar you are in recognizing the various tones and pitches in a dogs bark. Drawing on the latest studies, this class will help you determine whether the barking is from anxiety, boredom, or too many stimuli.

I will discuss various techniques to combat barking such as citronella and shock collars and why they don’t work in the long run.

Then the fun begins! Using positive reinforcement, you will learn how to teach your dog cues such as quiet and how to bark on request. We will practice in class “quiet” and “woof” to such triggers as the door bell, strangers approaching the door, and people walking by the house.

Not only will you and your little canine friend have fun but you will be surprised at what you learn and how easy it really is!!

In “Beyond Just Woof”, you will be shown science-based interactive games and analyses that will give you an unprecedented perspective on how your dog sees the world. We will assess 5 core dimensions of your dog's cognition — empathy, communication, cunning, memory, and reasoning. By understanding your dog's mind, you'll build a deeper connection with the personality behind the bright eyes that greet you every day.
